There are so many things that spring has to offer. From spring cleaning to planting season, spring is the perfect season to do activities before the hot summer. Along with the season of spring comes longer hours of daylight. This calls for evening walks, gorgeous spring sunset pictures, and great weather! Although spring technically starts in March, for most states, the typical spring weather usually starts in April and last till late May.
Although this next DIY project has been around for a few years, it is just now getting the recognition it deserves. That is, how
to convert a colander into a planter! Interesting right? Believe it or not, this DIY project is not only unique, it can be matched with any home style as well. This project is overall pretty simple. First, use a colander with a unique design. It is easiest to get a colander that is the color you want. For example, when I was doing this project, I picked a colander that was blue so I did not have to paint it. If the colander is not the right color, take an additional step to paint the colander. Next, wrap one colander handle tightly with a half-yard of twine. Make sure to push the twine together to avoid any gaps. Once the handle is covered, tie the twine and finish it off with glue. Repeat this step with the other handle. Make sure to not cut the twine and leave a yardish length in order to hang the plant. Next, you are ready to start planting! Simply add moss and soil to the colander then add the plants. The final step is to tie the twine together and hang!
Another way to kick off spring is with a seasonal recipe. An easy spring recipe to make is pea pancakes! This might sound weird, but can be versatile for a meal or snack! These pancakes are both savory and sweet for the perfect taste. Ingredients for this recipe include: 1 cup of shelled fresh peas, 1 teaspoon of salt, 3 large eggs, 1 cup of cottage cheese, ¼ cup of flour, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 4 scallions, and finally a half-stick of butter. One of my favorite things to do is to throw a spring fling get together with some of my closest friends. This is an annual gathering I like to host where we make different DIY projects, have tasty spring
treats, and it is a great way to get everyone together. This year, I sent out my invitations using the tulip Penless stickers! On the Penless sticker I took a short sneak peek video of one of the DIY projects. Whoever guesses what the project is going to be, wins a prize! I thought that this would be a great way to get my friends even more excited. Thanks to Penless I am able to make my friends thrilled about the party before it even starts.
